- your family physician will be of help. I went through this ten years back

- there are external application ointments, tablets called Pilex(in India) as well as mild laxatives
- if it is of bleeding type, the doctor will advise you what to be done

there is nothing to worry. Even if you need to be operated for removal of this, you will be perfectly ok in a week

Any primary care provider can make this diagnosis. Doesn't have to be a proctologist -- not by a long shot. A primary care provider can be a family practitioner, nurse practitioner, physican assistant or internist. A specialist isn't needed for something like this.

A proctologist.
If you are in England he will likely not be known as Doctor but just a simple Mister. He/she might have M.B. after his/her name. My brother says it stands for Master of the B*M.

Hemorrhoids can be "seen" by any doctor as they do not require a specialist to diagnose the problem. They are pretty straight forward and obvious. Until you see someone, try ice to the area. If you have thin latex gloves you can fill them with water -- don't get them too full -- freeze them in the freezer, and use the round, long, finger sections to shrink the hemorrhoids FROM THE OUTSIDE ONLY. Do not insert the ice into your anus. There are suppositories which will help shrink them and some are over the counter, so ask your pharmacist (or any pharmacist) Young folks do not as a general rule have hemorrhoids so do get yourself to a doctor for a quick check.
