Is hemorrhoid surgery worth it? Cost? HELP PLEASE?
I’m 22 and I haven’t seen a doctor yet, but I have the most painful case of hemorrhoids I swear. It started out just itching, but now it’s honestly like my anus is plugged and every time I take a crap it tears through the hemorrhoids.
I avoid goign to the bathroom without suppasotories. Last night I used them and they turned the fecal matter into mush yet it was still the worst and most painful experience yet. I still can’t sleep… COnstant throbbing. I use preparation H, but I can’t even get the applicator into the anus anymore. I don’t see the hemorrhoids from the outside, so I’m assuming these are internal.
I could go on and on but this is the most painful thing I’ve ever gone through. I don’t have health insurance right now. I’ve heard the surgery is painful, but I’m already in terrible pain. Is it costly? And does it work? I can’t keep shoving suppositories up my tooshie every time I need to go to the bathroom.

First of all, before you get all worked up for surgery- it may not be necessary. I know they are incredibly painful, and a doctor will be the person best able to help you- but the first option is not usually surgery. In your case, you want to start with attention to the other end of you- which is where the trouble starts. You have to alter your diet to include more fruits, veggies, and whole grain foods, and more liquids. You need fiber to prevent constipation, which keeps you from having to strain and tear the tender tissues of your tushie. As soon as you can, for immediate pain relief, try soaking your tushie in a bath of warm water and witch hazel. While you are at the store getting the witch hazel, get yourself some Tuck pads and baby wipes with aloe and no scent. Take those home, put the Tucks in the fridge to get nice and cold. It may help if you put the cream tube in there as well. That will help put out your fire. Skip on the dry paper for personal cleaning, and use the baby wipes. So your tush will smell nice, and you won’t drag sandpaper over tender spots. Whenever you go to the bathroom, put one of those nice cold Tucks on the spot in question, and use some of that cold cream internally if you can do it. Also get yourself some drinkable fiber mix- and drink a glass of that each day. You are aiming to keep things nice and soft here so you don’t strain at all to go. You will need to take your time in the little reading room as well, no rush jobs for you. Soaking in the water and witch hazel will also feel good for a while. You will have to keep up the diet changes, and if you do the hemorrhoids can heal themselves in a bit- how long exactly depends on how bad they really are. That piece of info has to come from the doctor, and you won’t like the exam it takes to get the information. Internal hemorrhoids are faster healing than those that distend and hang out where you can see them as well. And believe it or not, if you don’t do what’s needed to heal them- they can get worse. Surgery only deals with what you have now, and if you don’t change your diet they will return with vengence. The surgery is also not pleasant either- trust me, I get to see the other end of it quite literally. The expense depends on what it takes to repair them, and diet changes are a lot cheaper and easier on the wallet. Not to mention other parts of you. Remember- easy on the red meat and alcohol, lots of other fluids, lots of fruits, veg, salads, whole grain foods, and your fiber drink. Keep the treatment stuff cold, and soak your tush- and you should be able to bear with things until they heal.
Oh my god, do not hesitate, get it cut out!
In Australia, unlike the US, most of your surgery is paid for so money is rarley an issue, YESSSS, LOVE THIS COUNTRY!
It is a highly memorable operation that takes about a month to recover from. It is often done under an epidural (like childbirth). I was in hospital a fortnight with it and then a further fortnight at home convalescing. It was quite painful but they do have drugs that help quite a lot. You need a sense of humour during the convalescence as part of the recovery involves you poking a cone up your bottom twice a day – which is in itself quite painful as well. I have been told that the operation lasts for up to 40 years before the proble reoccurs – I have no idea how much it costs as I had medical insurance, rather a lot I expect. Good luck in your decision.
Changing your diet is a lot cheaper.Hemorrhoids are usually caused by caffeine, sugar, and a lot of spices. If you think that’s painful, wait til you get gout, or diverticulitis, also caused by poor diet.
I feel so sorry for you. I had em once, ouch! My friend & i both had em after we had babies, she went and had surgery. I went the natural way:
Witch Hazel. Its a clear liquid (you should be able to get it at the supermarket). Its in the personal isle , women use it as a toner for their face as it constricts pores in their skin. But it also constricts the bulging and painful vein which is a hemorrhoid.
I am not joking, it totally worked for me, within 2 – 3 days it was not painful, within 2 -3 weeks no symptoms at all.
Put it on cotton wool, and hold against the hemorrhoids on your butt. I know you are saying they are more internal, so maybe find a way to get some of this magical stuff in your butt.
It really truly disappeared my so so painful hemorrhoids. I really hope this works for you too.
If you don’t want to do this and ice pack can help to reduce swelling and inflammation.
Good luck and i hope you feel better really soon.:-)
My Father described his hemorrhoid surgery like this…
" It felt like they dug my hole out with a post hole digger, packed with broken glass and sewed it up with barbwire"
Drink Water and get black cherry juice from a health food store.
worked for me twice…Good Luck and please see a Dr.

I work at my country’s Bank and could have gone anywhere in the world for treatment. I opted for Forerunners Healthcare Consultant’s in India because my doctor told me about the medical expertise there. Equally importantly he had heard glowing reports about the humane and patient-friendly doctors and nurses. My surgery was outstanding and the prices, amazing! It was a very happy experience, in every sense. I commend India as a wonderful place to get treated in. Having lived in the US for several years, I can say that the hospital in India compares well with the best in the USA

prep h never helped me much either try hemroid harry out it worked for me and my wife after she was pregnant with our 2nd child. sounds like you got them pretty bad make sure you get at least a 20 day supply and it will take care of it. it worked miracles for us, i know how skeptical i was and it still did the trick
Yes Surgery is very painful. I watched some of my friends go through it while I was in the service and they were no good for several weeks. They complained how painful it was to use the restroom afterwards. In the long run it did help them though so it just depends on how bad you have it. Have you heard of H Miracle? I am trying this out right now. Its just a guide that helps you eat right and use natural things to help relieve pain and get them to go away. So far it has helped some but I have only been trying it for a few weeks. Another thing is something called hemorrhoid henry or something cant remember but it works pretty good as well. Its a cream based product. Anyway if you want to check out the H Miracle I will leave the link in my source box.
