He’ll give you an internal examination and some preparation for it. If they are severe he might discuss possible surgeries.

Firstly your doctor will check to see if you actually have hemorrhoids. He will do this by asking you a series of questions to find out more about your symptoms. He may need to examine the area, if you have an external hemorrhoid he will be able to see this easily, otherwise he may need to examine the inside of your anal canal (don’t worry – this is entirely painless).
When you finish up he will likely prescribe you with a cream to treat the problem.
Creams have mixed reputations as they usually focus more on treating the symptoms as opposed to the underlying causes of hemorrhoids, I suggest you ask your doctor about this.
