Hemorrhoid doctor?
I’ve had an external hemorrhoid for a couple of years…I’ve changed my diet long ago and it hasn’t bled or caused me any pain for at least a year. Butt it still itches. And it’s so unsexy.
What kind of a doctor do you see to get this removed? Regular PCP? Gynie? Dermatologist? And do they numb you first? Does insurance typically cover it?
Thanks for real replies. Being a grown-up sucks.

Your normal family physician or your gynecologist can handle removing a hemorrhoid. They will numb the area before removal. Your insurance company would treat this as an office procedure for billing purposes. They should cover this.
Good luck,

First off…
Surgical treatment is recommended for hemorrhoids that become much enlarged, bleed frequently or contain blood clots.(How bad is it, is what you Doctor determines)
Surgery of the hemorrhoids is the last line of defense. Most hemorrhoids can be treated and cured with more conservative treatments, but others must be dealt with surgically.
Common procedures include freezing the affected tissue-cryotherapy, injecting chemicals into the hemorrhoid to shrink it-sclerosing solutions, surgically removing the hemorrhoid-hemorrhoidectomy, or placing rubber bands around the hemorrhoid for removal-ligation. Operative therapy decreases sphincter pressure by forceful dilation or by lateral internal sphincterotomy. Most of these are done under local anesthesia.
The Doctor that you would see would depend on the procedure you think you can handle, as practices differ.
Issurance should cover it. Unless you have..Oops..
Almost let it go..
Anyways… good luck.
Your primary care dr or a gastroenterologist can take care of it, maybe a gyno. too. You will get a shot (always fun) to numb the area and then they cut it off. Your ins should cover it, of course sometimes some dr.s might try to charge for "a procedure", which might be a little more out of pocket. You can call the ins comp. and ask or the dr.’s office. I think there is a way to do it with a laser, but I don’t know much about that. Good luck!
Go and see your GP first and he/she will refer you on to the right doctor.
Hemorrhoids can just be pushed back up your anal canal and your GP can do this. They apply an analgesic cream so it doesn’t hurt.
Your GP can lance them too.
The best way to get rid of piles and never get them again, is to squat on the toilet. Put your feet on the seat and squat down. You’ll never have to strain again and you’ll only use half the toilet paper. Sitting on modern toilets is the reason people get hemorrhoids.
You could go see a doctor, or you could go to the link below. My uncle just told me to post that for him. He’s on a bit of a mission to help people that have hemorrhoids like he used to.
